John P. Roth, DDS, MS

Dr. Roth is an orthodontic specialist, which means, after completing his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree, at University of Missouri – Kansas City; he spent an additional two years studying and practicing orthodontics exclusively to become an orthodontist.
Dr. Roth completed a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1996. He married that same year. He and his wife Susie moved to the Kansas City area for a job at Burns and McDonnell. He worked as a mechanical engineer for a couple of years and could not shake the desire to work with patients and families in the field of dentistry. So in the fall of 1999, Dr. Roth returned to being a full-time student. Three children and four years later, Dr. Roth graduated from UMKC – School of Dentistry first in his class. He developed an aptitude and love for orthodontics throughout dental school. His mechanical engineering degree only strengthened his knowledge about orthodontics.
Dr. Roth finished his orthodontic specialty in the fall of 2005. It was a long road but worth every minute. He opened his doors in Shawnee, Kansas in the late fall of the same year. Since then his hard work and dedication to excellence in treatment and customer service has enabled him to open two more locations. Dr. Roth opened the Legends location in 2009 and Overland Park in 2011.
Dr. Roth continues to look to the future to build a practice where patients feel comfortable and happy. He believes the only way to treat a patient is to treat them as they are family. He vows to keep a personal experience for each patient even as he continues to grow the practice.
Joe Moon, DMD, MS

Dr. Moon's parents immigrated to the United States from Korea in 1976 in search of the "American Dream." Of all places, they found that dream in Junction City, KS where he was born and raised. Dr. Moon grew up cheering on the Jayhawks and when the time came, he attended the University of Kansas where he received a B.S. in chemical engineering. After college, Dr. Moon came to the realization that something was missing and that a career in engineering was not going to fill that void. After some soul-searching, he discovered that his true passion was dentistry; a field where he could work with and help families on a daily basis.
Dr. Moon attended the University of Pennsylvania - School of Dental Medicine where he received his D.M.D. and graduated with a number of honors and awards. He graduated at the top of his class and was very active in the school and in the community. After dental school, Dr. Moon completed a General Practice Residency at New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, NY where he received extensive training in all aspects of dentistry. Upon completion of his residency, he practiced general dentistry in Dallas, TX. It was during his time in private practice that Dr. Moon realized that he wanted something more and decided to go back to school. It was the day-to-day challenges associated with orthodontics (there is probably a little engineer still left in him!) and the interaction with families that drew him to the field. Dr. Moon completed his advanced graduate training at the University of Minnesota where he received an M.S. in dentistry as well as his specialty certificate in orthodontics.
Dr. Moon shares the same practice philosophy as the entire Roth Orthodontics team: to provide our patients with high quality orthodontic treatment in a kind, caring, and professional manner. Our goal is to treat the person, not just their teeth. He looks forward to working alongside Dr. Roth and with every single one of our patients.
Dr. Moon is a huge sports fan. He is a loyal Jayhawk fan and being a native Kansan, also cheers on the Chiefs and the Royals. He enjoys playing golf, skiing, traveling, cooking, and eating at restaurants that are "off the beaten path." The thing he enjoys doing the most, though, is spending time with his wife, Beverly, and their beautiful daughter, Isabel. Dr. Moon and his family are thrilled to call Kansas "home," and we welcome them to our practice and to the community.
